Hey there sister-in-F.A.I.T.H.! I’m excited to share with you some wisdom and practical steps to become a woman of God which God has created you to be.
March is the month where women are celebrated across the globe, from Women’s International Day to Mother’s Day. But becoming a woman of God is a lifestyle. It is a daily intention and commitment to live out our truest identity as women of God in Christ Jesus.
Today, I’ll be taking you through five practical steps that the word of God has taught us about what it looks like to be a woman of God for God’s kingdom. I encourage you to soak in these biblical teachings and take them to God to show you how you can personally apply them into your daily life.
Now, let’s get to it…
1. She puts God first.
A woman of God seeks God’s face before anything and anyone. God is not the last resort in her life, God sits on the throne of her heart. Every decision she makes, she consoles with God first about it. God steers the wheel of her life as she sits in the passenger seat allowing God to pave the way for her and to direct her steps. She is not in control of her life because she acknowledges that God is Sovereign and therefore, she trusts and submits her life in the hands of the Lord. Like Hannah, she feverently prays to God aligning her desires with God’s will.
(Read Matthew 6:33-34, 1 Samuel 1)
2. She recognises true beauty is from within.
A true woman of God’s beauty goes further than her outward appearance but her true beauty shines from within. Her outward appearance draws people in but her godly character is what keeps faith-filled people around her. She understands that beauty is fleeting but her inner beauty will never fade. She breathes words of wisdom, she sees beyond the natural, she loves immensely and whatever she touches multiply. How? Because she is aware that in order to tap into biblical womanhood she needs to fear the Lord. It is through her heart and deep respect for the Lord that the power and attributes of God radiates through her. Like Esther, what people don’t know is what attracts them to her isn’t her physical beauty but the beauty of God from within her.
(Read Proverbs 31:30, Esther 2:12-18)
3. She has a gentle and quiet spirit
A true godly woman would not get turned off by the term “gentle and quiet spirit” used to describe a woman of God. She understands that this attribute means to rest your trust in God without being anxious about anything. She has no fear of what tomorrow will bring, she possesses an atmosphere of calmness because she knows God has everything under control. She doesn’t feel the need to be the centre of attention, but instead she exudes confidence that comes from God. Like Sarah, she obeys and honours her Lord because she trusts Him.
(Read 1 Peter 3:1-6, Proverbs 31:25)
4. She has a servant heart
Everything she touches turns to gold. What was once a seed she knows how to nurture it to become fruitful. She is humble and selfless, and she looks out for the interests of others. She knows how to help others before they know they need help. Like Rebecca and Ruth, she doesn’t serve to get approval from man, but she serves diligently to please God. And like Mary Magdalene, she understands that serving God doesn’t just mean toiling your hands, but it includes faithfully sitting at Jesus’ feet in His presence.
(Read Proverbs 31:13-20, Genesis 24:1-25, Luke 10:38-42)
5. She is bold for Jesus
She is an ambassador of Christ. She is unashamed of proclaiming the gospel. She is aware that God has commissioned her to make disciples of nations and teach them to obey the things of God. So, wherever she goes, she brings the light of Jesus into that dark place. Like Miriam, when she goes through tough times, praises and thankfulness to God are on her lips. Like Deborah, she hears God’s voice and shares His word with others. Like Huldah, she is not afraid to share the message of God in truth and love.
(Read Matthew 28:18-20, Exodus 15:19-21, Judges 4, 2 Kings 22:14-20)
