STUDY SUNDAY: BLIND FAITH PRODUCES GOD’S VISION

We are in the year of 2021! Praise God! After the year we had in 2020, we are all hoping for a better year. A year where we can finally start the things, we wanted to pursue but couldn’t in 2020.

However, 2020 taught me to expect the unexpected with God and to not limit Him. The year had caused us to increase our faith in God like we never had before. It leads me to pose this question, is blind faith really blind? Well, if you are aware of God’s vision, although you may not have yet seen the vision revealed in the present, but you see the vision in the future. So, therefore it encourages you to walk in “blind” faith in order to produce God’s vision into reality.

But in order to walk in blind faith to produce God’s vision for your life you need to go through and understand the 6 P’s: PUSHPOTENTIALPURPOSEPLANPROCESS and PATIENCE.

These 6 P’s will be studied alongside the scripture John 9:1-12 where Jesus heals a man born blind. This will help you realign your dreams to God’s vision for your life. Because sis, you have been limiting Him with your small dreams compared to the unlimited vision God has for you. If you want to learn what requires you to have blind faith and how to achieve God’s vision for your life, keep on reading.

MAIN PASSAGE: JOHN 9:1-12

Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind

9 As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing. His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, “Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?” Some claimed that he was. Others said, “No, he only looks like him.” But he himself insisted, “I am the man.” 10 “How then were your eyes opened?” they asked. 11 He replied, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.” 12 “Where is this man?” they asked him. “I don’t know,” he said.

WHAT IS FAITH?

WHAT IS VISION?

Blind Faith requires you to PUSH so that you can see your POTENTIAL in order to fulfil God’s PURPOSE

1. PUSH

Dreams vs. Visions

DREAMSVISIONS
Are rooted from our own desires. It’s all about ME! Going after what you want takes your own actions, strength and way = FOOLISHNESSAre rooted from God’s desires. It’s all about HIM! Going after what God wants seems crazy/impossible = FAITH

V.8 – 11

  • People couldn’t believe that the blind man could see; it was crazy to them.
  • When God sends you to do something crazy it takes blind faith because you don’t know the outcomes of the steps you are taking.
  • It PUSHES you to have trust God.

V.12

  • Your blind faith PUSHES others to God’s vision.
  • When people start witnessing the glory of God manifesting in your life, it PUSHES others to want to get to know God.
  • Your life should minister to others. Therefore, when you don’t fulfil God’s vision for your life it prevents those who God has assigned to your life for you to minister Jesus to, to get saved.
  • Don’t let your doubts, anxieties, fears and insecurities get in the way of God wanting to bless you.

2. POTENTIAL

Definition: Having or showing the capacity to develop into something in the future.

V.6 – 7

  • When you lose one of your senses the others heighten.
  • The blind man could hear, feel and smell what Jesus was doing.
  • Not once did the blind man hesitate or ask questions.
  • He believed that he would be healed no matter how the process looked like to others.
  • It may look crazy to everyone else, but he can’t see them, he is focused on his potential.
  • Which leads him to act out of faith – obey Jesus’ command “Go” “wash in the Pool of Siloam”.
  • When Jesus reveals to you your potential, don’t hesitate, doubt or fear, have faith and move towards it.
  • What God is showing you is who you are to become.

YOUR POTENTIAL IS NOT THE REFLECTION YOU SEE IN THE MIRROR BUT WHAT YOU SEE IN THE WORD OF GOD.

3. PURPOSE

V1 – 5

  • The blind man was born blind to showcase God’s glory.
  • The same way we are all born for God’s purpose.
  • Jesus was born to be the light of the world, as so are we – Matthew 5:14-16.

V.4, V6 – 7

  • Jesus recognised that He was “sent” to do His father’s work.
  • The same way He “sent” the blind man to be healed to the glorify the Lord’s work.

Find out what is it that you were BORN to do in order to fulfil God’s VISION for your life. And make sure you do not limit God’s unlimited ability to do the impossible in your life. Think big! Don’t view your life from your view, view it from God’s angle.

In God’s vision there is a PLAN and PROCESS which requires PATIENCE

4. PLAN

V.6 – 7

  • Jesus told the blind man to “Go”.
  • Where to go –> “Pool of Siloam”.
  • What to do –> “Wash”
  • “Siloam” means “Sent”

Proverbs 16:9 NIV

“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps”

  • God will not send you somewhere where He has not given you a plan and the steps.
  • We can make our own plans from our heart desires, but they will not lead you to the path where God has determined you to go.
  • Therefore, your plans have to come from God’s desires, so that his steps can be established.
  • You can’t get to God’s vision without it requiring you to not know the outcome, that’s what takes blind faith – not knowing what next step to take.
  • You have to listen to God and obey His commands.

V.1 – 3

  • The blind man was not born blind due to his parent’s sin. He was born blind for a bigger purpose, “for the works of God might be displayed in him”.
  • Realise, Jesus saw the man, He went to him.
  • So that means, when following God’s plan, you don’t have to cheat, lie, step over someone, compete, compare yourself to anyone etc = SIN.
  • God will bring it to you, you’ve just got to align yourself in His plan for you.

To align yourself with God’s plan, you not only have to be aware of His vision for your life, but you have to know the steps and instructions to get there. That is why we have a free “Write The Vision Plain 2021” template out for you lovely people. Start the new year right by planning out God’s vision for your life. This will be a guide to keep you on track with God’s will for your life. Setting you up for great success in 2021.

5. PROCESS

The question is why did Jesus had to put mud on the blind man’s eyes before sending Him to pool? Why couldn’t He just send Him straight to the pool, and say “Your faith has healed you”, just like He has done previously with the other sick people? It is all about the process!

V.6

“GROUND” + “SALIVA” = “MUD”

Q1. Why this process?

A1. The process isn’t pretty and it isn’t a punishment but instead to showcase God’s glory.

Q2. Why not skip the whole mud process and go straight to the washing in the pool in order for the blind man to be healed?

A2.

Ground:

Genesis 2:7 NIV

  • We are made from “the dust of the ground”DNA

Saliva is made up of:

  • 98% water = “pool of Siloam”
  • The other percentage is enzyme = DNA

Therefore, in the process God wants to print His name on it before He manifests the blessing, the miracle, the healing etc. So, that when people see the glory in your life, it is too magnificent to point the glory to yourself. As a result, you tell people that it is God, because He has His whole DNA on it.

Examples of people in the bible having to go through the process to reach their destiny:

  1. David –> King = fight Goliath and run from Saul.
  2. Jesus –> Cross = persecution, temptation from the devil, betrayal, denial from His close friend, being crushed and pierced for our sins.
  3. Joseph –> Ruler of Egypt = hatred and jealously from his brothers, slavery and imprisonment.
  4. Abraham + Sarah –> Isaac = Infertility, Hagar + Ishmael, waiting/patience.

6. PATIENCE

Patience is not a punishment. It’s an opportunity to get your priorities in check to be in God’s presence and purpose.

V.1, V.7

  • The blind man was born blind – so he must have been blind for a long time.
  • Yet, don’t think God has forgotten about you.
  • The blind man wasn’t physically looking for healing to see, Jesus saw him.
  • God gives you the vision, you don’t go looking for it.
  • But what you need to do is to be in the right position before God.
  • For Jesus to tell the blind man to “Go” (v.7) to the pool of Siloam, it must have been close. The blind man was at the right position for Jesus to perform a miracle in his life.
  • Therefore, make sure that you have a relationship with Jesus. Through your relationship with Him you will be able to know and see His vision for your life, to then act accordingly to pursue it.

Right timing! Wait on Him!

Habakkuk 2:2-3

Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.

  • “Tarry” = stay longer than intended; delay leaving a place
  • “Wait” = in Greek – periménō. To remain, to be steady, to endure putting up with surrounding difficulty regardless of the obstacles involved.
  • God’s vision may seem like it is delaying to happen, but in fact it has its appointed time, and God WILL fulfil it.
  • But that is why it is important to write the vision down because even when you currently see little to no evidence of the vision happening, go back to the vision.
  • And remain in Jesus, trust in God’s timing instead of trying to get God to act on yours, that’s what makes us impatient.
  • And God never lies. He is faithful to His word.

Psalm 23:1-3

  • The LORD is our shepherd and we are His sheep.
  • As His sheep we are made to “lie down” so rest.
  • We are also led to quietness.
  • So that He can refresh our souls.

If we are still, quiet, and restful we can hear the voice of our shepherd (John 10:27) as to where He is guiding us to end up along the right paths, He has set for us to achieve His vision over our lives.

Stop conforming to the fast-paced life the world has set for us but instead live a life that is restful (not lazy there is a difference). Then when things take long to happen and requires you to be patient it won’t feel out of the norm, because you have been living a paced life.

SALVATION

  • God had a vision to save and rescue us by incarnating Himself; sent Himself to come and be our Saviour.
  • He didn’t wait for us to fix up.
  • The process for Jesus was not pretty.

Matthew 26:39

Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.””

  • Jesus had to use blind faith. He focused on God’s will, on God’s vision although the plan and process were so difficult.
  • He knew the effect it will have on us today and generations after us.
  • His grace, mercy and an abundant life.

If you have read this far and I have yet to have given your life to Christ, I encourage you to take the time and reflect. You may have wondered why are you here? We are all here on this earth for a purpose. You are reading this for a purpose. And you may have wondered what that purpose is. I can faithfully tell you once you give your life to Christ, make Jesus your Lord and Saviour and believe in your heart that He died for your sins and rose from the dead, so that you can have a new life in Him. You will discover the amazing vision He has planned for you that you will achieve in His name. Just take that first push and continue to spend time with Him. There will some ups and downs through this Christ journey. But now you’ve got someone to lean on who will help you along the way, Jesus.

Stay blessed,

Divine L.
