I want to start off by saying that this blog post is not to condemn anyone, but to reveal the truth and expose the lie of the Law of Attraction.
I was once deceived by the Law of Attraction and pretty much all things New Age related. But by the grace of God, He revealed to me the truth.
For that reason, I have to share the truth to you all who either practice the Law of Attraction or if you know someone who does.
Without wasting anymore time, let’s get straight into it.
What is the Law of Attraction?
The phrase “Law of Attraction” was discovered in the 19th century by a Russian occultist Madame Helen Blavatsky.
Madame Helen Blavatsky was instrumental in turning Europeans and Americans towards Eastern religions and philosophies which incorporated Indian (Hindu) spiritual practices.
She believed that the contemporary world needed a religion.
So, her aim was to challenge modern thought by utilising occultism.
Occultism was her answer as the religion modern society needed.
Occultism is using practices that leverages supernatural powers, mystics, one’s own inner nature, knowledge of the hidden etc., apart from Jesus Christ.
Some examples of occult include Law of Attraction, astrology, horoscopes, black magic, witchcraft, fortune-telling, tarot cards, yoga and the list goes on.
So, how is Law of Attraction wrong? Well…
- The history of which the Law of Attraction is derived from = occult
- Its principle is channelled through the kingdom of darkness = divination
- The aim is to make you believe you are a god = idolatry
On the surface, it is said that Law of Attraction is a universal principle that you attract into your life whatever you focus on; that thoughts become things.
But beneath the surface there is deception making you believe this universal principle.
2 Corinthians 10:5 tells us:
“We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.”
These are “ proud obstacle(s)” and “rebellious thoughts” going against the knowledge of God.
God is not in Law of Attraction.
Law of Attraction is evil.
Allow me to expose and destroy the lies of the enemy by giving you the truth of God which will set you free.
Debunking the Law of Attraction
I will be using the 3 criteria above to help you see beneath the surface of what lies the disgusting truth of the Law of Attraction.
1. The history of which the Law of Attraction is derived from = occult
Satan is the master deceiver; the “father of lies” (John 8:44), and the occult is his domain to manifest his power of deception amongst the world.
It makes sense, Satan’s purpose is to get people to worship him other than the One true God; Jesus, and he does this through developing his own religion; New Age movement (e.g., occultism).
Deception is getting someone to accept what is true or valid as false or invalid.
Satan takes what looks like the truth (which is actually a lie) and counteracting it with the actual truth, because how can you deceive people to believe in your lie without giving them another option to run to?
And the New Age movement is just that.
See, things like the Law of Attraction are coated with positivity even Christian scriptures to deceive you into worshipping in something that looks innocent.
Have a look for instance “The Secret” book by Rhonda Byrne. She quoted biblical scripture to try and support her demonic occult teaching.
She used Mark 7:7, Matthew 21:22 and Mark 11:24 in an attempt to break down these verses with the concept of “Ask. Believe. Receive” to support her claim that Jesus was a millionaire who taught the Law of Attraction.
She took scripture of out its context to paint us a distorted picture of who Jesus is; a genie, who’s ready on command to provide for us whatever we ask for.
Wrong.
Doesn’t this sound familiar?
The devil did the same thing with Jesus when He was in the wilderness. You can see this in Matthew 4:1-11.
The devil used scripture and twisted it to fit his reality in order to deceive Jesus.
The devil deceives you when you are hungry for something that only God can actually satisfy.
Similarly, Madame Helen Blavatsky believed she was doing the world a favour by introducing this occultic religion of the Law of Attraction.
As you can see today the world has never been hungrier for a spiritual encounter, only to be feeding their desire of counterfeits like New Age practices.
But Jesus counteracted what the devil said with the truth which is the word of God.
You can trust that the bible, God’s word is truth because Jesus says it Himself in John 14:6:
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
What other religion or god you know that can self-proclaim themselves to be THE truth?
None.
Only Jesus, because He is the Truth. He is God.
All of our souls are longing for Jesus, whether you want to believe it or not.
But the devil will try and deceive you to deter you away from the truth, who is Jesus, Himself; and New Age practices like Law of Attraction are his method by doing so.
Moving on to the next criteria of debunking Law of Attraction.
2. Its principle is channelled through the kingdom of darkness = divination
The universe. The universe. The universe.
I don’t know about you, but I’m getting tired of hearing that creation can all of a sudden control all things on earth.
That creation can somewhat help plan out the will of your life.
This is a pantheistic view, which Law of Attraction sets its belief on.
Let me set the record straight, the universe is not the Creator (God is), it is creation just like us human beings.
The universe is finite, and it is decaying (Romans 8:21). Therefore, for the universe to have come into existence it needed to have an absolute beginning which is a Creator who is outside of time, space and matter (Psalm 147:5).
Also, on that note, what is this “energy”, “frequency”, “vibration” or “force” everyone is talking about to attract the things that they want in their life?
You’ve got to ask yourself where does this concept of manifesting out to the universe with the use of energy, frequency, vibration or force come from?
This statement is taken from excerpt in an article associating the link between the Law of Attraction teachings to the teachings in Wicca, which is a modern pagan religion (witchcraft) and it states:
“Wicca teaches that thoughts are things; this is one of the basic principles of magick. We view that our thoughts have energy in our environment. Everything we think about sends energy out into the world which changes the world in some way. Most thoughts don’t have enough energy behind them to actually do much, but some will set a chain of events into motion which will lead to something magickal happening in one’s life.”
Excerpt cited in James K Walker and Bob Waldrep, The Truth Behind the Secret
Law attraction is magic. It is witchcraft.
Calling a medium a “channeller” and a demon a “spirit guide”, you are in contact with the kingdom of darkness which Satan is the head of (Ephesians 6:12).
Deuteronomy 18:9-13:
“9 When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. 10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord; because of these same detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you. 13 You must be blameless before the Lord your God.”
God was warning the Israelites that this land that they were passing through on their way to the Promise Land, they practiced a religion that is outside of God that they should not partake in.
In the same way, our life here on earth is temporary, we are just passing through on our way to eternal life in heaven, we should avoid practicing religions outside of Jesus here on earth.
The Law of Attraction is on the list of avoidance.
Galatians 5:19-21:
“19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
Witchcraft is a sin. Partaking it in means you are not living by the Sprit and therefore will not enter heaven.
This is to emphasise to not entertain New Age practices.
We must avoid it at all cost.
To bring home the point, Esther Hicks is a channeller, she channels a spirit called Abraham Hicks and holds Law of Attraction workshops.
Channelling spirits is demonic.
Any spirit outside of the Holy Spirt and angels is an evil spirit.
Here’s how?
Mark 5:8-9:
“8 For Jesus had already said to the spirit, “Come out of the man, you evil spirit.” 9 Then Jesus demanded, “What is your name?” And he replied, “My name is Legion, because there are many of us inside this man.””
There were evil spirits which Jesus associated as demons inside of the demon-possessed boy which is He had to cast out.
To know that, not only is the origin of the Law of Attraction from an occultist but also from a channeller of an evil spirit.
No wonder the principle of the Law of Attraction is praying to the Universe and channelling “energy”, “frequency”, “vibration” or “force”.
The “force” is not the Universe and it is surely not God.
It is Satan, himself!
These are words to cover up evil spirits that you are channelling to attract the reality of your words and thoughts.
You don’t need to channel or manifest from spirits (that includes the “universe” ) when you have the Holy Spirit living inside of you when you give your life to Jesus, whom will guide you to the will of God through God’s word.
The Holy Spirit is the One who reveals to you who Jesus is because He is the Spirit of truth (John 16:13-14).
Be mindful of the source or “force” behind the things you say and think.
It’s not all what it seems.
Moving on to the next and final criteria of debunking Law of Attraction.
3. The aim is to make you believe you are a god = idolatry
Have you heard of the term your “higher self”?
Have you tried to connect to your “higher self”?
The definition of “higher self” which is embedded in Eastern religion is that:
“It is an inward source to turn to whenever you need information, whenever you need solace, and whenever you need love.”

Eastern practices (Hindus and Buddhists) believe that their purpose is to manifest their innate divinity, and that is what the Law of Attraction teaches people to do, making them believe that they are gods.
Doesn’t this feel familiar?
Yup, not only did Lucifer (now known as Satan) wanted to be like God and fell from heaven (Isaiah 14:12-15).
So, did he entice Eve to desire the same which led to the fall of humankind.
The first lie ever told to humankind that led to our fall, that you can be like God.
It is history repeating itself again causing us to fall into this trap over again.
This is the devil’s tactic.
Genesis 3:5, it reads:
“For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” (Genesis 3:5).
Eve desired to become wise; to gain wisdom just like God (Genesis 3:6).
She wanted to be God.
But she thought disobeying God’s command was the way to attain it.
But in fact, Proverbs 9:10 says:
“The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord”.
The word “fear” there means reverence, respect, honour. Therefore, to gain wisdom you must have deep respect for God.
You can’t attain something outside of the person who is it and created it.
You will only find its counterfeit. Just like Eve did.
The devil can only give you the counterfeit. Never the real thing.
The deception of New Age practices make you believe that you can be like God outside of God.
For others, you may not have had the intention to be like God but your actions say otherwise.
How?
Read the definition of “higher self” again.
“Information”, “solace”, “love”; these are all things which you cannot receive through yourself or others.
You are not all knowing, you can’t comfort yourself or others into wholeness, and you are not love either.
But guess who is?
Yup, you guessed it. God.
God is omniscient (Psalm 147:5, Hebrews 4:13).
God, the Holy Spirit is our Comforter (John 14:26 AMP).
God is love (1 John 4:16).
When the Law of Attraction is teaching you to live a self-centred life, it is actually the devil robbing you of living a life for God.
When the Law of Attraction is deceiving you into believing you can find your truest identity and can create the life you want through connecting to your “higher self”.
You are in fact losing out on developing a relationship with God where you get to intimately know Him, the life He planned out for you and your identity, which is in Him.
You can’t find who you are outside of God when you are made in the image of God, Himself.
Genesis 1:27:
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
We are one with God, but we are NOT God. You CANNOT evolve into godhood.
Read that again!
The purpose of being one with God is not so you can exalt yourself.
No.
The purpose of being one with God is so that the world comes to know that Jesus was sent by the Father and therefore for us to build a relationship with Him (John 17:20-23).
We are made to represent God to others on earth, so that others get to know Him also.
So, you’re not supposed to be connecting to your innate “higher self”.
What you are truly searching for is who is higher than you, and that is God.
You are supposed to connect yourself to Him.
He is our Creator. We are His creation.
Our lives don’t exist without Him.
Our lives belong to Him.
As you can see, everything always points back to Him.
He is God, after all.
To reiterate this blog post is to not condemn those who have or are currently practicing the Law of Attraction. But I do pray that what you have read today has opened your eyes to the truth of the concept of the Law of Attraction.
If you are still sceptical, please do some further research and studying of the word of God. There are some resources listed below to help guide you.
But most importantly pray to God about this whether you are believer or not. God is the truth and therefore He will lead you to the truth.
Repent and return to Jesus. He loves you that’s why He died on the cross for you.
