WORD OF THE MONTH: FIGHT AND FIGHT AGAIN

The Word of the Month of May is “Fight and Fight Again” The verse we will be focusing on is Ephesians 6:10-18.

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”

If you don’t pick up the sword, if you don’t go on the battlefield and fight, how would you know that God has already brought the victory to you?

If you don’t face your fears it will keep following you. Fight not flight!

God has equipped us with His armour. I don’t know if you have realised this, but the armour of God is called the ‘ARMOUR OF GOD’ for a reason. Every piece of armour is a reflection of who he is, from salvation to peace, it all points back to Jesus.

God is fighting on our behalf, we are not fighting our battles alone.

Sometimes, it can be hard and tiring to pick up the “sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” and fight the enemy’s words of lies with the truth of God, and it feels easier to just wallow and sit in our troubles, tribulations and struggles.

But once your guard is down the enemy is ready to pounce on you like a prey. If the enemy is not fighting you, best believe he is watching, observing and analysing you, waiting for the next time your guard is down to attack you.

This is not to install fear in you, but push you to who God has created you to be – we are warriors of God.

When Adam and Eve were in the garden of Eden, instead of standing there, giving up their time listening to what the serpent (enemy) had to say, they should have immediately shut down the enemy with the truth of God. The enemy’s language is lies, He is the Father of ALL lies, and not one single truth comes out of his mouth.

When you give time for the enemy to speak, you are only giving him the space to continue to fight and attack you with lies, fears, worries, stress, sinful thoughts and the list can go on, all to deceive you away from God.

But, let’s be like David, he may not have had the armour which Goliath had on, even though he had the opportunity to wear Saul’s armour. But that’s because he wanted to fight in the name of the living God; “David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.” (1 Samuel 17:45).

The armour of God is our way of fighting against the enemy“in the name of the Lord Almighty”, which means we are not fighting by our own strength but through the power of the living God.

As we saw, David defeated Goliath with just a sling shot and stones. But that wasn’t the end of it, he then cut off Goliath’s head with his own sword.

Attack the enemy when he is down and continue to fight. Use his words of lies against him by combating them with the word of God, just like Jesus did with Satan in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1-11).

I want to encourage you that the victory is already yours, so keep on fighting in the spirit of victory, don’t give up! Don’t you want to get to the other end to you see the foreshadowing of your victory?

The enemy already knows that you have won, he just doesn’t want you to know that. But I want you to know that the battle is God’s and victory is yours.

Stay Blessed,

Divine L.
