HOW TO MAKE BLESSING BAGS FOR THE HOMELESS

Blessing Bags are a wonderful way to give back to the community, especially to those who are less fortunate than we are, to share and remind them of the love of God and that He has not forgotten them.

You pack the Blessing Bags with essentials that homeless people will need and you can hand them on the streets to the homeless personally and/or to homeless shelters.

Handing out Blessing Bags is a great way to practice the gift of giving to people. It is a real and tangible way to help people in need and connect with those you may not normally interact with on a daily basis.

God is a Giver. He continuously gives us free gifts that we do not deserve. Giving out Blessing Bags is a precious way of demonstrating the character of God to others, as you are the feet and hands of God on earth.

To find homeless shelters to give the Blessings Bags to, you can google online the closest homeless shelter in your area and contact them to find out the days and times that they are available for you to hand in your Blessing Bags.

You don’t have to pack and hand out the Blessing Bags alone. You can gather your friends, family or people at church to help you out and make it into a lovely activity to do together as you give back to the community. Some can be involved in purchasing the items, others can be involved in packing the items into the Blessings Bags, and a team can go out and hand them out to the homeless people on the street and/or shelters.

For a special touch you can put an encouraging message along with a Bible verse to inspire and remind them of the love of God and that He is with them wherever they go, He will never abandon them.

Items to Include in the Blessing Bag:

*Get a FREE Blessing Bag checklist printable to print off and bring with you when shopping for the list of all the items. Plus, a free encouragement note with a Bible verse that you can sign.

Tip: It is advisable if you purchase all your items either at an inexpensive store (e.g. Poundland) or in a store or online site that sell products in bulk (e.g. Amazon), as it is much more affordable and easier that way. Travel-size toiletries do the trick.

You first and foremost need a Gallon Size Ziploc Bag to help keep all your items together in one place.
